Joining the Massachusetts Council of Churches:

There is so much that can and does divide the Body of Christ. And yet, we believe in a fundamental and foundational unity because of our baptism into the one Church of Jesus Christ. The Massachusetts Council of Churches is a network of denominations, congregations and individuals convinced that what binds us together in Jesus Christ is stronger than anything that divides us.

The Massachusetts Council of Churches Core Values affirms that diversity is given by God and to be celebrated, not minimized. Our Constitution affirms that membership in the Massachusetts Council of Churches “entails the responsibility of bearing witness to the Gospel as we have received it, but also the opportunity of being challenged and inspired by perspectives other than our own.” Moreover, membership in the Massachusetts Council of Churches, “does not necessarily imply full recognition of the other members as “church, ” it is based on the recognition of certain sacred bonds between us.” We know our churches are very different from one another, in theology, worship, leadership, history, constituency and style. And yet, we aim for a network of churches marked by mutual necessity and delight.

If this vision of a vibrant, diverse, common Christian witness speaks to you, we invite you to consider joining the Massachusetts Council of Churches.
