Director of Lawrence House

We are seeking a visionary and grounded leader to serve as the Program Director for Lawrence House. This role is a unique blend of spiritual stewardship and organizational leadership. You will guide a cohort of corps members through a rhythmic journey of Orientation, Immersion, and Integration (see detailed description below), helping them bridge the gap between professional service and spiritual depth. We seek candidates who are active members of a faith community. The ideal candidate will display strong executive function, strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community. Candidates may be in discernment for ministry.

As the "Architect of the Common Life," you will ensure that Lawrence House remains a vibrant part of the Episcopal Service Corps Network and the ministry of All Saints Episcopal Church, fostering a community anchored in contemplative action and radical interdependence.

All Saints Episcopal Church is an inclusive community in South Hadley, MA, adjacent to Mount Holyoke College. Our ministries emphasize social, creation, and gender justice. Lawrence House, a part of the Episcopal Service Corps Network, is the intentional residential community attached to All Saints Church. Corps member candidates typically apply to the program in the spring; four to five accepted corps members live in residence from September to June of the following year and serve with a designated local organization. The Director acts as organizer and advisor to the corps members while they are in residence, executing the functions listed below in the “Key Responsibilities” section.

Hours: 300 hours over 10 months (see “Breakdown of Hours” below)

Salary: $7500 + mileage

Key Responsibilities

1. Mission Stewardship & Denominational Leadership

• Vision & Mission: Set and maintain the spiritual and social mission of Lawrence House in alignment with All Saints Episcopal Church.
• ESC Network Liaison: Represent Lawrence House at all Episcopal Service Corps Network meetings and ensure the program remains in full compliance with ESC covenants and training standards.
• Ecclesiastical Communication: Maintain active and transparent communication with All Saints Episcopal Church Clergy and Vestry, providing updates on program health and impact.

2. Programmatic Design & Facilitation

• Spiritual Formation: Develop and deliver a comprehensive spiritual formation plan. This includes crafting the annual calendar around the core pillars of Service, Community, and Spiritual Depth.
• Phase Management: Execute the three-phase structure:
  • Orientation (The Clearing): Transitioning members from the "default world" through skill-sharing and the creation of a "Rule of Life."
  • Immersion (The Deep Current): Supporting members through 32-hour work weeks and "Theological Reflection" at the communal table.
  • Integration (The Harvest): Overseeing Capstone Projects and "breathing out" rituals.
• Theological Agility: Facilitate regular periods of silence, study of sacred texts, and somatic practices (yoga/breathwork). Meet one on one with interns on a monthly basis.
• Administrative: Maintain open communication with host sites, field concerns from host site supervisors and mediate conflicts between corps members and host sites, as well as between corps members. Act as the liaison between corps members and All Saints leadership, Maintain all program documentation, records, and compliance files. Conduct end or program exit interviews.

Breakdown of hours

• Program development (3 hours per week) - 135 hours
• Immersion meetings (weekly dinners 2 hours each) - 80 hours
• One on one meetings - 50 hours
• Administrative - 35 hours
• Total hours: 300 x $25 per hour = $7500 + Mileage
