The Director of Faith Development for Children (DFDC) provides leadership in First Parish in Bedford’s Religious Education program with a focus on serving  children from pre-K through 8th grade.   The DFDC collaborates with the Minister for Faith Development to fulfill the vision of the RE program  and is charged with building a spiritual connection for children to UU values. The DFDC works with the Senior Minister, the Minister for Faith Development, Faith Development Committee, other members of the staff and congregation to connect the Faith Development program with other activities of the church. This job is 3/4 time (30-32 hours per week).


  • Three or more years of experience with a vibrant, thriving religious education program
  • Associate level (or higher) credentialing with the Unitarian Universalist Association is desirable
  • Completion of a minimum of 3 Renaissance Modules (UU religious education training programs, available online)

The candidate does not need to be UU as long as they demonstrate an understanding of Unitarian Universalism and our values. Experience with children and understanding of childhood development is a must.
